While Valentine’s Day is considered the Day of Love, we at Cabot House Furniture & Design believe you can celebrate love and romance at home all year-round. Our designers are sharing their top 5 tips to create romance at home.
1. Arouse The Senses
Our in-house interior designer, Sharon Gorrell from our Framingham, MA showroom shares her absolutely beautiful and romantic inspiration board. “This primary bedroom lures you in with feminine curves, luxurious upholstery, and alluring ambiance. You’ll be dreaming of getting home all day and you won’t be in any rush to leave in the morning.
Naturally, romance begins with a beautifully curated bedroom. Color, texture, scent and well-selected lighting really tickle the senses in a bedroom design. A velvet tufted headboard surrounded by flowers, soft understated table lamps, cozy textures both under foot and on the bedding all work cohesively to create a sensory, romantic experience.
2. Paint the Town (More Than) Red
Naturally, we gravitate towards reds or pinks when we think of romance. But, our designers also love to add in other color palettes for texture. A cool blue velvet chair, rich brown silk window treatments or even a bit of creamy white fur in a pillow or rug invite soft touches. Mixing woods or metals or a fantastic marble fireplace is also a favorite way to create warmth and style. Pop in some white, pink or even fuchsia flowers for color as the perfect romantic space is created.
Go rogue with romance and think out of the box. This space is elegant and sophisticated with layers of the same color palette. Keeping things monochrome helps to create a unified space. While the nailhead trim velvets and and the honed metals really lend to a softer feel.
3. Create Layers of Love
Piles of pillows, bundles of blankets and throws, lots of lighting are all wonderful ways to create romantic layers. Layers create interest and invite you to relax and get comfortable. They allow each person to remove some or add more to their heart’s delight. Our designers are well-trained in the language of love and creating a shared space that is both appealing and functional.
4. Get in Romantic Shape
A moody headboard with amazing curves oozes romance. Our designers know that straight lines are not always right for romantic spaces, they look for a sexy hourglass, arches, soft edges that create interesting spaces that invite you in to relax.
5. Think Outside the Bedroom
Don’t limit the romance at home to only your bedroom. In-house interior designer Sharon Gorrell believes dining spaces are a wonderful place to infuse romance. Start with some amazing wallpaper, add texture and warmth with your window treatments, and of course you need fresh-cut flowers. Keep your curves with a round table that grounds your space. Add some chocolate and your favorite glass of wine and catch yourself falling in love with your dining room all over again!
Nothing says love quite like vibrant red. Our in-house interior designer Jody Bridger, from our Lantana, FL showroom created this quintessential romantic look for her client by mixing bold red with classic black and white. Don’t be afraid to be daring when creating your romantic design – express yourself!
Dining spaces are the perfect spot to add allure with wonderful textiles and soft fabrics. Performance velvets, plush rugs or gilded metals all evoke love and celebrate the glamorous. Like fine jewelry for the dining room, a fantastic mirror really highlights the space creating elegance, ambience, and an extra sparkle.
