York Harbor is a lovely seaside resort town for those looking for a quiet and nostalgic retreat. Surrounded by ocean front estates, The York Harbor Inn is one of its most popular, least crowded seaside destinations, offering guests relaxed elegance, boutique accommodations, and 5 star service. Gail Bradbard, talented ASID interior designer, has been working with owner Gary Dominguez for over 30 years.

It all started with a compliment! Gail frequented the Inn for brunch and dinner and asked to speak to the owner to express her appreciation. One thing led to another, and over the years, Gail designed the interior spaces for the main Inn building and three more.

Gail’s most recent project is the patio and jacuzzi center with new heated in-ground hot tub and large patio with fire pit for guests to enjoy year-round.

Gail began designing Day 1, when they broke ground!

Like Cabot House Furniture & Design, York Harbor Inn is a family owned business. Gary’s son Garrison, Assistant General Manager, helps his dad run the business.

Relationships are everything in a family-owned business!

Given Gail’s long working relationship with the family, Gary trusted that she would bring his vision for this outdoor relaxation space to life. This “Heaven By The Sea” is located across from the ocean so the outdoor furniture needed to be stylish and durable to delight his customers and withstand the sand and salt.

From previous projects, Gary was familiar with the quality and style of Brown Jordan furniture. With over 20 collections to choose from, Gail helped narrow his choices.Together they chose John Caldwell’s timeless Pasadena collection. They agreed its sophistication and sleek profile in cast and forged aluminum along with comfort suited the Inn’s clientele.

Durable sophistication for a timeless look and feel.

When creating the layout and design, Gail was mindful that the space would be used year round. She chose a variety of chairs, tables, and chaise lounges. Placement and scale were important to create a dynamic, mixed use environment. Gail created several floor plan options before the final decision was made.

For a luxurious seaside resort, Gail envisioned neutral colors blending harmoniously with the natural beauty of the landscape. She suggested a charcoal black frame with sandy-colored performance fabrics evoking colors of the beach. This palette worked well with the sun-bleached white of the building’s exterior.

The patio blends seamlessly with the natural beauty of the landscape.

The furniture was chosen early on  during the construction phase, when the space was still a hole in the ground. This allowed Gail to help Gary and Garrison choose a gray stone wall with white panel to coordinate with the Pasadena collection. Gail created a cohesive look while providing privacy and an intimate feel.

A relaxing outdoor space for guests to enjoy.

The father son team was thrilled with the project and called Gail to personally thank her and share rave reviews from their hotel guests. This new patio and jacuzzi center is now proudly showcased on their website.

Gail says “I derive great satisfaction from giving my clients a timeless sophisticated look that blends into the natural surroundings and is durable to the New England weather.”

“It is important to fully understand what my clients want, and as a professional designer, to determine if it works for the space. With any project, I consider design, color, functionality, and durability. Because Brown Jordan’s collections are designed and constructed to endure all commercial, hospitality, and residential environments, I was able to focus my creative skill on the design.”

The beautiful patio and jacuzzi center add to the relaxed elegance of the York Harbor Inn. I’m thrilled this outdoor space will delight guests for years to come.
